Planning your day in Beijing

Use a point near your actual Beijing route rather than a single result for the entire municipality. A reported concentration, China’s local index and US AQI are different values; this page identifies its data type and index explicitly.

Start with central Beijing, your district, your route to a school or workplace. Choose the actual point on the map to compare it with the city-centre location used on this page.

What should you do when pollution rises?

Read the health advice for the index and country you are using. On poorer-air days, consider shortening or rescheduling strenuous outdoor activity. Children and people with heart or lung conditions may need extra care.

Sources and limits

This page shows readings from nearby monitoring stations of public and community networks, such as Sensor.Community, WAQI, OpenAQ, PurpleAir and Syngeos, and in Poland the official GIOŚ network. When no station is nearby, it shows a Copernicus model estimate. Measurements and model values are different kinds of information; a missing or old reading is not evidence of clean air.
